Outline (in English)
(1)To obtain the ability to read ordinary English the difficulty
of which is adequate for the freshmen.
(2)By the ability in (1), we mean the basic practical skill of
reading English of various kinds of style which is required
when the students go up to juniors and seniors or get out into
the world after they graduate.
(3)Students should intensively read the reading material in the
preparatory reading range for at least 60 minutes outside of
class time.
(4)Evaluation will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of
the student’s normal points (attitude toward class, preparation,
review, quizzes, etc.) (60%) and the final examination (40%).
In principle, students who are absent more than 3 times per
semester will not be allowed to earn credits.

大学１年次生が読解するのに相応しい日常的な英語を読むことにより、専門課程に進級したり、社会に出た後も、自らの関心や目的に沿って、さまざまな文体や話題の英文を主体的に読むための基礎力を養成する。
到達目標Goal
日常的なテーマを扱った英文を読みながら、基礎語彙を増やし、行間を読む力や要約力を高める。その過程で英文内容についての質疑応答も行い、英語読解力を応用して、リスニングやスピーキングの基礎的なスキルを向上させる。

・本授業は、対面授業を基本にして、本学で定められた規定範囲内でオンライン授業も行う（日程は授業計画に記載）。
・英語の文章の構造を踏まえながら、精読、速読の作業を並行して行う。
・英文内容についての質疑応答を行い、予習や復習の状況を確認し、個々の応答に対し、口頭で助言、学習方法等についてのフィードバックを与える。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
平常点（受講姿勢、予習、復習の状況、小テストなど）（６０％）、期
末試験点（４０％）を総合的に判断して評価する。各学期欠席が 4
回以上の場合は、原則として単位修得を認めない。
