Outline (in English)

Students in this class will aim to learn skills for rapid reading of English texts. In each lesson, Students read an English essay about current global issues and work on various activities related to the issues. Aiming for being able to read and understand English texts at the pace of listening to a talk, students will try to read an essay in rhythm with a voice reading from the audio book. Following the advance of internet technology in today's world, the ability to read and write in English is necessary for us to search information, know ideas of people worldwide. By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings: ① to read various types of English texts including newspapers and journals ② to explain, talk, and discuss various issues in English.
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments after each class meeting. Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend one hour to understand the course content.
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process; assignments (30%), term-end report (30%), and in-class contribution (40%).
