To promote the ability of students to interact in English and discuss a wide range of non-specialists topics as they relate to their own experience and opinions.

Lessons are topic-based. Each week students will share experiences and opinions about a topic introduced by the teacher by weekly worksheets, with feedback from the teacher on student answers. Questions will be both direct or discussion-based.
In the case of online classes, worksheets will be uploaded weekly to Hoppii and classes will be conducted over Skype )

Review recent topics and prepare 2nd test speech again exploring in greater depth any topic of interest.

本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、合わせて1時間を標準とします。/University guidelines suggest preparation and review should be around an hour a week for a one-credit course.
Students should follow up lessons by compiling notes on each topic that expands on the new vocabulary and useful language they learned in each lesson.University guidelines suggest preparation and review are around 4
hours a week for a two-credit course and around an hour a week for a one-credit course.

参考書References
Any topic-based elementary conversational English textbook could be studied in conjunction with the course. For vocabulary study, consider a "smart" flashcard app such as "Anki" available for most desktop and mobile platforms.
成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
2 x essays: one at mid-term, and one at end-of-term. These essays will express you opinion on the topics studied during the preceding weeks.
2 x 50% = 100%
In addition, students need to follow campus guidelines for attendance: in principle, no more than three (3) absences are permitted in per semester.
学生の意見等からの気づきChanges following student comments
The topics discussed are a subset of many that could be used that reflect the interests of young people. Recent changes include discussion of online study material, particularly podcasts, the Olympics and comparisons of Eastern and Western culture.
学生が準備すべき機器他Equipment student needs to prepare
In the case of online classes, students will need a Skype client (app) and headset for online meetings, and to access Hoppii to obtain the weekly uploads.
