Outline (in English)

During this second semester, students, individually or in small groups, will present a social, cultural or historical theme about France. Each theme then continues to be studied over several sessions to allow for joint research and constructive debate among all students.
Some examples of possible themes: the social crisis (popular oppositions to "reforms"); history of the Fifth Republic; immigration; France in the European Union; the assets of France; Covid crisis in France; etc.
This is a seminar aimed at developing academic skills.
Active participation in class is essential. Exercises or tasks will be given at each class for the next class (thorough review of vocabulary and grammar points; theme-related paper or presentation).
Depending on the tasks involved, homework preparation will range from two to four hours.
This seminar-type course prepares directly for French proficiency tests (B1 or B2 levels) or for a stay in a french-speaking university.
Grading criteria are as follows: in class contribution (40%), oral presentation (30%), final paper (30%).
