Outline (in English)

Since the dawn of history, human beings have synthesized a variety of useful chemical substances to utilize them in daily lives. In recent years, performances of chemical products have exponentially improved with the rapid progress of chemistry and chemical technology, which play a part of advanced modern civilization. On the other hand, our interests on such chemical substances seem to have unfortunately decreased with the increase of their durability. In this lecture, students perform various kinds of chemical experiments such as analyses, syntheses, and so on. Understanding chemistry in the fundamental viewpoint through experiments is the purpose of this lecture. Studying time will be more than two hours for a class. Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments and lab reports that should be submitted through HOPPII (https://hoppii.hosei.ac.jp). Overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following; attendance: 25%、assignments and lab reports: 25%、in class contribution: 50%.
