Outline (in English)

【Course outline】 We will learn about the historical geography of each area of Edo-Tokyo based on the descriptions of each ward section in "Shin-Sen-Tokyo Meisho Zue" from the separate volume of "Fuzoku Gaho", Japan's first graphic magazine published in the 30s and 40s of Meiji era.
【Learning Objectives】 The aim of this course is to gain a deeper understanding of the historical geography of Edo-Tokyo, based on materials from the Meiji period, and to consider the historical landscape that lives on today, what has been lost, and the geography from the past to the present. 
【Learning activities outside of classroom】 Your study times will be more than four hours for a class.
【Grading Criteria】 Presentation by Power Point 50%, in class contribution 50%
