Outline (in English)
Students will learn how Japanese culture is seen from a global perspective, while developing the four skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Video clips will be used in addition to a variety of written materials. By the end of the course, students will be able to express their thoughts and opinions on related issues in English.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
この授業の目的は、英語の四技能を磨くと共に、日本文化の諸相を国際的な視点から捉えることにある。教材には狭義の文献に限らず、多様な映像メディアも使用する。
到達目標Goal
この授業を履修することにより、以下の技能の獲得が期待される。
(1) 四技能にわたる総合的な英語の運用力を身につける。
(2) 日本文化の特徴について世界的な視点から理解する。
(3) 英語資料を批判的に分析し、それについて自分の意見を英語で述べることができる。

反転形式で進めるので、テキストの予習が必須である。受講生は毎週発表を求められる。授業では各自の理解を確認し、関連する知識を深めていく。このクラスでは狭義の読解を超えて、自ら英語で発信する力も育成する。各課題や中間テストの結果は翌週の授業内に講評する。
大学の行動方針レベルが２となった場合、この授業は原則としてオンラインで行う。詳細は学習支援システムで伝達する。
