Outline (in English)

Cultural anthropology aims to understand various “others” living around the globe, with a focus on society and culture. Its most prominent feature involves empirically and positively examining different cultures and societies based on the methodology of fieldwork (participant observation), as well as writing ethnographies. This task also involves not only relativizing dominant values in our society but also exploring the universal nature of human beings. Through 15 classes, this course aims to allow students to acquire a cultural anthropological perspective that embraces both the universality and diversity of human beings.
