Outline (in English)

Literature of the German Romantics
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, writers who transcended the genres of poetry and fiction, and who were not bound by form, appeared in Germany. What were the thoughts of the Romantic writers and how did they try to express them in their works? We will examine the fairy tales that the Romantics loved and the "other worlds" (forests, witch houses) that the main characters encountered.
When Prussia at that time was occupied by Napoleon's army, nationalism was born among the people. The Brothers Grimm rewrote or removed fairy tales they had collected on the grounds that they were not good for children. Restrictions on harmful books will also be discussed.
