授業の概要と目的(何を学ぶか)Outline and objectives
In this seminar on International Development and Peacebuilding, the students will examine the various issues related to economic, social and human development as well as peacebuilding, focusing on developing countries. They will learn about Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and issues related to its implementation. The students will learn about the different roles and activities of various actors in this field, including governments, international organizations, civil society, the private sector, and others, and how they interact to achieve the SDGs.
到達目標Goal
The students will deepen their understanding of the range of international development and peacebuilding issues including the SDGs and the roles and activities of various actors in this field and their respective strengths and limitations. They will enhance their understanding of different approaches in tackling development problems, including poverty, inequality, gender issues, human development, vulnerability, human rights, environment and climate change, and peacebuilding. The students will also develop a deeper understanding on various collaborative partnerships among different actors. Through presentations and discussions in English, the students will also enhance their English language proficiency.

The course offers a blend of theory and practice on issues related to international development and peacebuilding. The course will also cover discussions that are taking place at the UN and other global forums, and the students will examine how their outcome apply to various development situations in different countries. Students are expected to read the assigned materials, make presentations, and actively participate in class discussions. The course will be conducted in English considering that its proficiency is required to study materials related to international development and peacebuilding, produced by UN as well as other international organizations and global actors.
